Today, a multitude of minimally invasive procedures are aimed at rejuvenation without the risk, recovery time and expense of major surgery.
Dermal fillers have been used for more than 20 years to treat lines, folds and wrinkles resulting in a younger and fresher appearance. The treatment is safe and produces instant result by putting back volume to the skin.
There are different types of Dermal fillers on the market but we only use the biodegradable products as they are considered the safest and the result will still last for up to 12 months. Semi permanent and permanent fillers are also very safe but as we age the skin changes and a permanent solution might not be appropriate for the long term.
As we grow older, the skin’s reserves of hyaluronic acid diminish, causing lines
and wrinkles to appear. By gently injecting a Dermal filler gel into the affected
areas, this process is reversed with skin looking visibly suppler and younger. The

Botulinum Toxin (BOTOX, Dysport)
Botox will make the skin smother by relaxing the underlying muscles. This will reduce and in most cases remove existing wrinkles and prevent new ones appearing. As the muscles are relaxed this mean they can not contract and therefore not fold the skin.
As the name suggests Botox is a toxin but there are no adverse reactions reported. It has been used for decades to treat a number of muscular diseases such as blepharospasm, facial asymmetries due to stroke etc. It has also been very successful in treating migraines and other headaches.
Botox is mainly used to treat wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes as well as tightening the skin of the neck.
Your questions answered
What is Botulinum Toxin or Botox?
Botulinum Toxin, or Botox as it is commonly known,
is a type of purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It
is quite safe and is injected directly into facial muscles in very tiny amounts during
treatment.
How does it work?
Botulinum Toxin, or Botox, works by blocking the transmission of
nerve impulses to the facial muscles that have been injected. This makes the muscles
less active and therefore softens and smoothes the appearance of persistent lines
and wrinkles.
How many treatments will I need?
In most cases patients can see a real difference
after one treatment. This is because Botulinum Toxin or Botox works gradually, smoothing
and softening lines and wrinkles for up to a month. Every face is unique of course
and we’ll advise you on how many treatments you’re likely to need and how often,
depending on the results you’d like to achieve.
How long does Botulinum Toxin or Botox work for?
The effects of Botulinum Toxin or
Botox often last up to four months, depending on the patient. If you decide to stop
treatment, any permanent lines and wrinkles will gradually return.
Is the treatment painful?
It’s very rare for treatment with Botulinum Toxin or Botox
to be painful. Most patients experience a feeling of slight discomfort during the
treatment itself but that’s all. We will talk you through what to expect before your
first injection of course, so you’ll be fully prepared prior to treatment.
Do wrinkle reduction treatments such as Botox actually work?
There’s several ways
of reducing or removing wrinkles from your forehead and around the eyes, nose and
mouth. One of the best-
